A strong field of 19 players gathered on the putting Green for the 2025 Qld Foursomes Championships many dressed splendidly in period style. Most players had spent some time on the practice range and putting green and there was a real buzz in the air as teams gathered on the first tee for final instructions. The weather was perfect for golf and as usual RQ was in excellent condition.
There were some excellent pairings and a couple of short priced favourites.
The standard of golf was very high with most teams recording excellent results. The winners this year are both visitors to Royal Queensland. Peter Van Eekelen from Christchurch in NZ and Michael Mason from Noosa Springs Golf Club. The pair only met on the first tee but went on to combine beautifully with a score of 79 to win the championship by 3 shots from last years winners Rob King- Scott and Chris Cooper (82).
The Net event was won by another new combination of Peter Monks and Gregory Coper with a good round of 74 net.
Second place in the Net event went to yet another new pairing of Greg Mellifont and Peter Hyffin (75 net).
The rules prohibits the Champions also winning the net event. If that were not the case the Van Eekelen/Mason pair would have also won the net event by 5 shots!
Congratulations to all winners...
Also thanks to Ross Bishop for the excellent way he set the course for today’s event .
