Hickory Golfers Queensland's final event of the calendar year was the Norman von Nida trophy followed up by the Christmas dinner. We thank RQ for welcoming Hickory Golfers Queensland to the venue.
The weather was on our side for the final round of the year. Although the greens had been recently cored, putting did not seem to be affected as the results testify. Indeed, the greens, in their cored condition, were probably better than the would have been 100 years ago.
David Jones won with 38 points on a count back from Denis Brosnan and last years winner David Mansfield.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
The player of the year award this year again went to Bruce Collins. Bruce showed consistent form throughout the year and was a deserving winner. The President was a distant second.
Christmas dinner of turkey and plum pudding was well attended with patron Charlie Earp and Marg Earp joining us. An enjoyable evening. Thanks to the team at Royal Queensland for providing a quality meal with great service.
Congratulations to all the winners over the last year and we hope to see growing fields for next years events.
Merry Christmas and Happy new-year from HGQ.
