Monthly Event -30 January 2026
Match Report - 1st Monthly event of the year
Perfect Day for Hickory
While many of our cohort were in the land of the long white cloud playing in the NZ hickory open the rest of us enjoyed a cloudless day for the start of the 2026 hickory year.
A field of 14 presented to the starter. We welcome back a returning Member Robert Ormsby who has been in Finland for a couple of years. Robert advises that the Finns are golf mad and there are keen hickory players to be found in the Nordic regions.
We also had a visitor from Keppera Golf Club. Joel Negline is a handy golfer with handicap of 4 and he enjoyed the afternoon and returned a very respectable score of 17 points (just enough to keep the Treasurer off the podium.
Almost a quarter of the field were ladies. The girls are showing great enthusiasm for hickory and hope to achieve gender parity by years end. Go Girls!
The winner of the first round for 2026 was David Jones with a score of 18 points. Second and third places went Nick Carted and Joel Negline each with 17 points. It's interesting to that 12 months ago David Jones returned 18 points in the January event...they say consistency is the key to this game.
No 4 pointers were recorded in January. We are looking for someone to sponsor the 2026 Four Point Club club. If you would like to donate $200 to be this year's sponsor please contact Rob King-Scott and he will happily take your money.
