"the appeal is the uncertainty and playing with probably less clubs than you would normally carry, a half set can range between about 5 and 6 clubs. I've got basically a full set which is still only about 12, it sounds a lot but you know there's a few times you've got to try and make good, you've got a gap and then you want to have that certain club you don't have but then you have half sets that makes it even more difficult. You have to use your instincts and try to cover that distance - that's the appeal of it. It is the uncertainty with the hickory, there is no guarantee. Sometimes the best swing produces a poor shot and the ball comes off sideways. That's the fun of it. " Sandy Lyle.
